Agency Case Study – Carlon Leong gains better ROI for leading bank

Carlon Leong recently completed a direct mail campaign for a leading Australian bank. The campaign targeted financial planners and advisers and tested the ROI for direct mail against the ROI for online advertising. The product was an online savings account for businesses and self managed super fund owners.

The results proved that using your data to understand your market, develop a key message and personalising your communications, works. The ROI of the direct mail campaign was more successful than the ROI of the online advertising campaign.

Data provided by The Prospect Shop allowed Carlon Leong to research the target market in order to better understand their concerns and issues with the product. From their responses, Carlon Leong realised that many financial advisers didn’t know about one of the product features that could address some of their concerns. This became the key message for the communication to financial advisers.

Carlon Leong also personalised the communication piece. Past results show there’s more chance of a mail out being opened If the mail has a personalised address.

Thanks to the success, the client then decided to send out the direct mail piece to four times the amount of contacts used in the test campaign.
